Obituary for William J Loubsky

William Joseph Loubsky (“Bill”), age 81, resident of Winchester, MA, died peacefully on Monday, April 25, 2022 at home. He was born November 19, 1940 to William Francis and Marian Francis (Evensen) Loubsky in Chicago, IL where he was raised. After losing his mother at a young age, he was raised by his supporting step-mother, Elsie Loubsky. While in high school, Bill began his lifelong study of science and his passion for building and drawing model vehicles. Following his graduation, he continued on to University of Illinois where he studied Mechanical Engineering. After undergrad, Bill obtained his masters and his doctorate at Stanford University in Aeronautical Engineering. He began his career with NASA before starting his 30+ year career with MIT, both on-campus (in the Energy Lab) and at Lincoln Lab in Bedford, MA.
He was a modest man and a “Renaissance” man with an appreciation for both the arts and the sciences, a loving husband, a supporting and actively involved father and grandfather, a loyal friend, and mentor to many. His interests included his dogs, electric trains, space, languages, drawing, travel and music, to list a few. He was also a skilled storyteller of his adventures.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Patricia A. Horvath, his ex-wife, Donna D’Fini, his three daughters, Lorena Laila Loubsky-Lonergan, Alisa Ariana Loubsky, and K Jameson Pizarro (Loubsky) and her husband Eduardo Pizarro, and his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchild.
