Obituary for TianQiong Yang

TianQiong Yang of Winchester, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family and loved ones after a 14-month battle with cancer on February 25, 2022. Beloved wife of Ximin Li . Devoted mother of Qi Li, Yanhua Li, and Wei Li. Cherished grandmother of Justin Lee, Michael Lee, Keyi Liu, Isabella Lee, and Sophia Lee. Caring sister of Tian Yuan Zuo. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

TianQiong Yang was born in 1945 into a privileged military family of ten boys during a full-scale civil war between the Chinese Communist Party and the Nationalist Party (Kuomintang). At the tender age of four, she lost her father to the Chinese Revolution of 1949 and the prestige along with it. She began making a living with her mother while other kids her age were in school. She was a natural entertainer, a singer, a dancer, an opera actress, and well-loved by her community.

TianQiong was a loving, giving, and considerate person. She was driven and courageous, always standing up and enduring in the face of hardship. She taught everyone around her to be independent and self-reliant, but also to be kind to others.

She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, neighbors, and everyone else that knew her.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, March 1st from 9-11 am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Interment Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester.
