Obituary for Richard J. "Richie" Lanzillo

Richard Joseph Lanzillo, also known fondly as Coach Richie, passed away on Thursday, March 9th, 2023, in Apopka Florida.

Born to Elizabeth Claire and Fred Charles Lanzillo on March 22nd, 1947, in Medford Massachusetts and Grew up in Winchester where he lived until retiring to Apopka Florida in 2016 located just outside Orlando.

Owner/Operator of B&L Laundromat in Medford for many years, he also found himself working for Market Basket in Burlington, Tufts University in Medford, and he retired from his Job at Tufts Medical center in downtown Boston.

His love of Youth Baseball led to a 36-year career as an Assistant Coach and Concessions Manager with Winchester Youth Baseball where he helped lead many teams over the years to both State and Regional Championships where they were named State Champs 4 years and Regional Champs 2 years. He was also inducted into the Cal Ripken Baseball Hall of Fame of Eastern Massachusetts in 2016 for his contribution to the youth of Winchester.

Retiring to Apopka FL, he was able to enjoy many visits to the Disney Parks especially walking around EPCOT Center and attending concerts of some of his favorite guest bands during their many seasonal festivals.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years Phyllis Carol, His 2 children, John Douglas and Jason Robert, and Daughter-in-law Kristen, His 2 Grandchildren, Zoƫ Priscilla and Theodore Joseph, his Fur child, Harry, and his 2 brothers Ralph and John.
