Rachel Ellen Rice Cook died peacefully on May 9, 2023. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Ross and her two brothers Kenneth and David Rice. She is survived by four nieces and a nephew - Stephanie Maxwell, Anne Engel, Ken Rice, Lynn Whitehead and Sarah Castor.
Rachel was born in Greenfield, MA on September 21,1940, grew up in Deerfield, MA and graduated from the University of Vermont in 1962. She loved her career as a French Teacher in Boston and Winthrop, teaching at the elementary level. She married Ross Cook in 1973, and they lived in Lexington and Winchester.
During her years in Winchester, Rachel loved to sing in the church choir at St. Eulalia, was an active member of the Winchester Garden Club, and volunteered with the ENKA Society. She also worked with her husband in the Real Estate Appraisal business.
Rachel loved to write poetry, and escape to Brooklin Maine to connect with her extended family. Her generous spirit, sense of humor, and kindness to others were her hallmark traits shared with her dear friends and family.
A Catholic Memorial Service will be held at 11AM, Monday, May 22nd at St. Eulalia Church, 50 Ridge Street in Winchester, MA, followed by a graveside burial at Wildwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research are appreciated.
