Obituary for Kenneth S. Maryanski

Ken Maryanski
Art Director * Illustrator * Artist
On January 25, 2022, Ken Maryanski, 79, an accomplished illustrator and artist passed away peacefully at home surrounded by old friends and loved ones. Ken was the eldest son of Raymond and Beryl (Emmons) of Medford, MA. He graduated from Medford High where he made many lifelong friends on the hockey and football(captain) team. After graduation Ken attended New England School of Art. He began his career as an art director and designer. Eventually, it was his unique and amusing illustrations that gained him international notoriety. For three decades Ken’s work could be seen in print ads and publications around the world. His clients included Le Meridien Hotels (France) NHK Symphony (Japan) Sonesta Hotels, Faneuil Hall and Admont (Germany). His satirical characters appeared on the pages of Vanity Fair, Vogue, GQ, Sports Illustrated, the Washington Post, the New York Times and more. Ken continued to refine his art work until the day he passed. Through Ken’s art we will we always be reminded of his quick wit, sarcasm and complex imagination. A 33-year resident of Winchester, Ken was preceded in death by his brother Wayne. Survived by his wife Sheila (Ricci) Maryanski of Winchester, son Matthew and wife Valerie Maryanski of Nantucket, daughter Jill and husband Kyle McDonough with two grandchildren Sawyer & Finn McDonough of Manchester, NH, four sisters, Rayanne and husband Tony Santosusso, Wendy Nigro, Beryl Rotondo and Nancy and husband Steve Tustin and many nieces and nephews who all share their memories of his antics. Rules and traditions were optional for Ken, so keeping true to his spirit, a private gathering of family, friends and art will be forthcoming. RIP
