John H. Driscoll, Jr. passed away February 4, 2023 at his home at Putnam Farms in Danvers. He lived for many years in Winchester before retiring to Ossipee, NH. He was born in Somerville August 24, 1932. He and his family spent summers at Point Shirley, Winthrop where he met his beloved wife of 55 years, Pauline (Murphy) Driscoll.

John was a graduate of B.C. High ’50 and Boston College ’54. He served in the U.S. Army as a Special Agent, CIC, 1954-1956. John’s working career was spent as the owner and operator of the J.H. Driscoll Co. and Arlwood, Inc.
John served as a Board member at the Winchester Boat Club and the Winchester Country Club. He was Chairman of the North Suburban YMCA and the Old Colony Bank & Trust. For many years he taught CCD at St. Mary’s and served as the Chairman of the Parish Council. John had the gift for gab and enjoyed entertaining an audience. He and his wife Polly enjoyed spending time with friends as well spending many years playing tennis and later golf. John and Polly taught all their children to ski and fostered a love of playing all sports in each of them.
John’s real love was coaching and encouraging his children in many different sports. He coached baseball and soccer. He coached his three daughters on the very first girls’ soccer team in Winchester. He also served as the first President of the Winchester Soccer Club. When he wasn’t coaching John could be found on the sidelines with his wife Polly cheering on his children and later his grandchildren. They kept color coded schedules in their wallets to cover all the games.
He was the loving father of Denise Wyer (David) of Reading, Jack Driscoll (Courtney) of Andover, Kathleen DeRosa (Glenn) of Lynnfield, Christine Wyard (Brad) of North Andover, Steven Driscoll of Maynard, Michael Driscoll (Ruth) of Woburn, and Kevin Driscoll (Page) of Marblehead. John was also the devoted Grandpa of Jeffrey (Kiley) and Brian Wyer, Matthew (Justina) and Patrick DeRosa, Victoria and Jordan Wyard, and John, Hannah, Leah, Sean (Prem), Evan, Michael, Jack, Ryan, Will, Owen, Madison, Kelly, Charley and Elizabeth Driscoll. John is also survived by his sister-in-law, Carol Driscoll of Arlington, and many nieces and nephews. Visiting Hours at Lane Funeral Home, 760 Main St., WINCHESTER, on Thursday from 10am to 12pm, followed by a Prayer Service in the funeral home. Interment will be private.
Of John's many involvements with youth sports over the years, particularly girls' sports, he was most proud of his involvement as the first President of the Winchester Soccer Club. In his memory the family requests that in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Winchester Soccer Club, 120 Cross St., Winchester, MA 01890.
