Billerica MA and Daniel and Debra McLaughlin of West Chesterfield, NH. along with many related nephews and nieces. John, AKA “Jack”, “Jackie”, or “Big Guy” was born and raised in Waltham, MA, residing there until his move to Burlington in 2009. He grew up in a family residence with close relatives. In his youth, Jack spent much time playing with his cousins and neighbors. He was proud of achieving his black belt in Karate as a young man and of learning to box. Over the years, he was always willing to teach the kids how to throw or block a punch. As he grew older, Jack’s hobbies included golf, attending many sporting events of the kids, trivia, puzzles, cribbage and outdoor decorating for Halloween and Christmas. The more motion and sound there was, the bigger the sparkle in his eyes would be. Jack was always a kid at heart. He loved to be silly and playful. If his antics brought smiles and laughter to those around him, it brought joy and happiness to him.

Jack spent many years working in fulfillment for local publishing houses, Little, Brown and Co. and Houghton, Mifflin Co., When the publishing houses outsourced, Jack went to work for the state of Massachusetts, most recently as a supervisor of mail services. He met many good friends and acquaintances throughout his work experiences. He was well liked by all that crossed his path.

Family was everything to Jack. They were always at the forefront of his thoughts. He enjoyed many family gatherings, playing with the kids, telling stories, reminiscing, and catching up with everyone. He will always be remembered and will be dearly missed by all that had the good fortune to know him.

Jack had a tender heart and would contribute annually to help people in need with Thanksgiving donations and Christmas charities which included the Salvation Army, Toys for Tots, and the giving tree. In lieu of flowers, it would be appreciated if a donation would be made in Jack’s honor to one of the charities noted below or a charity of choice.
