McCarthy, Joan M (Wiseman) of Winchester passed away on October 8, 2022. Joan was a long time resident of Winchester and cherished the friends and neighbors she met over the years. She loved taking walks around town with Tom and spent many wonderful days communing with nature at Horn Pond in Woburn. Beloved wife of the late Thomas D. McCarthy. Loving mother of Dennis McCarthy and his husband Jack Edgerton of Seattle, WA, Maryellen McCarthy Ryan of Northampton, John McCarthy and his wife Kristin Clark of Arlington, and the late Brian McCarthy. Devoted grandmother of Charles, Sarah, and Phoebe Ryan of Northampton, Nola and Cordelia McCarthy of Arlington, and Brian McNamara-McCarthy of Oakland, CA. Joan was predeceased by her brothers Jack Wiseman of Winchester and Robert Wiseman and is survived by beloved siblings Fr. Denis Wiseman of Kisumu, Kenya, Kevin Wiseman and his wife Dottie of Silver Spring, MD, Helen Wiseman of Arlington, Michael Wiseman of Arlington, Daniel Wiseman and his wife Maureen of Arlington, Brenda Regan and her husband Colin of Cohasset, Brian Wiseman of Arlington, and sister-in-law Peggy Wiseman (widow of Jack) of Lexington. Joan is also survived by many cherished nieces and nephews. Funeral will be held from the Lane Funeral Home 760 Main St. (Rte 38) Winchester on Thursday, October 13th at 10 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church Winchester at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend visiting hours at the funeral home on Wednesday October 12th from 4-7 PM.
