Obituary for Francis Xavier McWilliams

Francis X McWilliams, Jr.
May 23, 1947- December 19, 2020

It is with sadness that we announce that Francis X McWilliams Jr. died after a period of declining health, at the age of 73.

Born in 1947 to Kathleen L (Leahy) and Francis X McWilliams, Frank was raised in Milton, MA. He graduated from Archbishop Williams High School, the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, and Northeastern University. Frank served in the Vietnam War. A long-time resident of Winchester MA, where he raised his family, he was the proud owner of a small business, Atlantic Industrial Sales, a business he later shared with his son and one he was proud to know, still endures. More recently, Frank and Maureen resided in Andover, MA.

Frank is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Maureen; his three children, Lorette (Don), Brendan (Juliana), and Natalie (Phillip); his siblings, Kathie (Bobby), Michael (Alice), and Kevin (Lynne). He is lovingly remembered as Poppa to six grandchildren: Brady, Logan, Finnegan, Cortland, Hazel, and Magnolia. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

An avid golfer who loved to walk the links as early in the day as possible, Frank was happiest with his wife at his summer home in Poland Springs ME, puttering, gardening, reading, swimming, and weeding. Equal parts serious and silly, Frank loved to joke and had an uncanny retention of driving directions to virtually anywhere in the Northeastern United States. He will be remembered for his fondness of politics, opinions and words, the Three Stooges, a wide range of music, and perpetual amusement at the Griswold’s Christmas Vacation movie.

Due to COVID, services will be for immediate family only. A celebration/remembrance ceremony will be held at a later date. Donations can be made to:
