Obituary for Edward Lonergan

Edward Lonergan, 80, originally from Somerville, graduate of Matignon High School (Cambridge), Boston College (Cum Laude), and BU Law (he attained the highest marks of any applicant in the 1968 Bar Exam). He practiced law for over 50 years with, in his words, "reasonable success." He was a member of teams that produced epic Boston area developments, including Faneuil Hall Marketplace, Charlestown Navy Yard, and Admiral's Hill in Chelsea. Despite his many successes in law and business, he jovially referred to himself as one of the “too numerous to mention” crowd.

Ed considered his family his greatest achievement and blessing. He is survived by his wife Barbara, his three children, Ted Lonergan and wife, Alissa of Chicago, Jeff Lonergan and his wife Chrissy of Burlington, and Kerry Pescatore and her husband, Bob of Winchester, his grandchildren, Sean, Colin, Olivia, Michael, and Joseph, and his siblings, Ita, Suzanne, Kenneth, and Ellen. He was predeceased by his brother Jackie. He adored his family, and rarely missed an opportunity to express his love. He was generous with his time, money, and wisdom. He is sorely missed and will be forever loved.

A wake for Ed will take place at Lane Funeral Home, 760 Main Street in Winchester, MA, on Thursday, February 15, 3 p.m.-6 p.m.

The funeral will be at Saint Eulalia Parish, 50 Ridge Street, Winchester, MA on Friday, February 16, at 10 a.m.

After the funeral, there will be a private interment (burial) for family members only.

A Celebration of Life gathering for friends and family will be held at Fairways at Woburn Country Club, 5 Country Club Road, Woburn, MA on Sunday, February 18, 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
