Winchester -
Joseph C. Sciascia Sr., 93 of Woburn, died on Wednesday March 18th at the Winchester Nursing
Center after a long period of declining health. He was the loving husband of the late
Betty (Horn) Sciascia.
Born in Winchester, he was one of six sons of the late Gaetono and Marian (Bourinot) Sciascia.
He was raised and educated in Winchester. After attending High School, he served honorably
and proudly in the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II and after (1944-1947).
Joe supported his family for more than 40 years as a leather worker and supervisor, in leather
factories in Winchester, Woburn, Peabody, and Lynn.
Joe's family was everything to him. He enjoyed cookouts, family vacations, traveling with
family members to National Parks, and attending the sports events of his children, grandchildren,
and great-grandchildren. After retiring, he also loved his early, daily walks around Horn Pond
and attending high school ice hockey and football events. He was a past member of the Woburn
Elks and pitched horseshoes for the Elks traveling horseshoe group. He very much enjoyed
candlepin bowling with his brothers.
Joe is survived by his children, Joseph Sciascia Jr. and his wife Donna of Winchester, James
Sciascia of North Dakota, Jay Sciascia and his wife Susan of New Hampshire, and Jill Siverhus
and her husband John of Woburn.

Also surviving are his great-grandchildren Andrew, Natalie, Bella, and Emily.
He was the brother of Daniel and Roger Sciascia of New Hampshire, and the late Peter, Robert,
and William Sciascia.
